No Introduction Needed For The ’96 Draft

The 1996 Draft is the greatest two round draft in NBA History, even greater than the LeBron 2003 Draft. The 1996 Draft produced 4 first ballot Hall of Famers, 4 regular season MVP’s, 2 NBA Finals MVP’s, 6 Scoring Champions, Defensive Player of the Year, the all time leader in 3-pointers, the 3rd best scorer all time, the 3rd best in assists all time.

6 players in the 1996 Draft were in the league 17 years or more.

The top 7 players picked played a minimum of 12 years. 17 out of the 29 first round picks played 10 years or more. From 1998-2016, every All-Star game had at least one player drafted from the 1996 class.

Five first round picks amassed a minimum of 5,000 assists. Eleven first round picks scored at least 10,000 points. Thirteen players played over 20,000 minutes. 8 players suited up in the NBA Finals.

If the draft was retro- career first, draft last- how would the first 10 picks shake out depending on their career?  Or, to rephrase. How far off were G.M’s?  21 years later this is how it should have looked.
